Ntokozo Dlamini was ecstatic to learn that she was one of the emerging designers to receive a contribution from the Hollywood Foundation, as part of the Durban Fashion Fair’s Rising Stars. The Foundation pledged R250 000 worth of equipment to assist aspiring designers.
Suzie Dlamini Apparel is a fashion brand based in Isipingo, Durban, that manufactures bespoke clothing. The brand was formed in 2018 but was fully functional and operational in 2020. Ntokozo completed her studies in 2017 in Fashion and Textile Design at DUT and has since gained more knowledge about the fashion industry, making an appearance on the television fashion series called “Made In Africa”.
The Hollywood Foundation contributed equipment on 14 July 2022, including a flat machine, a safety over locker, a bottle iron, an iron shoe and mannequins, to Suzie Dlamini Apparel. Before receiving this equipment, Ntokozo said business was very slow and time consuming. She said the equipment will help to produce more garments within given time, accurately and in good quality. Her hopes and dreams are to open a fashion house and move away from home. She hopes to grow her brand to an international level.
