The recent Hollywoodbets Durban July presented the Hollywood Foundation with a fantastic opportunity to support up and coming designers. Not only did the Hollywood Foundation contribute R100 000 worth of bursary funding to the Hollywoodbets Durban July Young Designer Award, emerging designers were also excited to hear that the Hollywood Foundation will be contributing R250 000 towards the Durban Fashion Fair’s Rising Stars.
Glamisa Exquisite (Pty) Ltd is a fashion business based in Umhlanga. The business offers high-quality fabric designer items to fashionable customers, at a reasonable price. Previously, the business was struggling, as it lacked machinery and equipment to keep up with orders. On 14 July 2022, the business was happy to receive a warm visit from the Hollywood Foundation Team, who presented them with their share of equipment. Some of the equipment that was contributed included a flat machine, a safety overlocker, a bottle iron, and clothing.
Namisa Mavuma, the owner of Glamisa Exquisite (Pty) Ltd, explained that the assistance from the Hollywood Foundation will make a huge impact on the business. She added that her hopes for the business is to grow and move into a new working space.
