People living with disabilities face significant barriers and are often excluded from accessing and receiving everyday services, let alone be empowered. To help Tembisa Self Association for the Disabled (T-SHAD) bridge this gap, the Hollywood Foundation contributed gardening equipment and a gas stove as part of its various CSI projects.
This organization, which runs protective workshops for people with disabilities was established in 1990. It aims to ensure that people with disabilities, play a role in the economy of the struggling South Africa. T-SHAD was identified by Malatjie Mashegoane, a Hollywood Foundation Area Manager for the East Rand area as a CSI initiative.
The Purple Team contributed these items to help the organisation to be able to fully operate in planting the crops and to properly look after them. Ziggy Maqabe, a representative from T-SHAD organization, said that she is thankful to the Hollywood Foundation as they will now be able to continue their work of helping people living disabilities without any challenges. She said, “The equipment will help a lot in the garden.”
