On Thursday, 4 February 2021, World Cancer Day was recognised by community-focussed betting operator, Hollywoodbets, when they sponsored well-known non-profit organisation, PinkDrive, with the funds to run a cancer testing station that was set up at RK Khan Hospital in KZN. The initiative was aimed to support the community by conducting free testing, consisting of 40 pap smears, 25 PSA tests and up to 50 breast examinations conducted by three nurses.
Chairman of the Health Department’s Ministerial Advisory Committee, Professor Salim Abdool Karim, was also present on the day to show his support for the cause.
“There are organisations like PinkDrive and Cansa, who are actively involved in identifying cancer early, because cancer can be beaten if you pick it up early,” explained Karim.
Janice Benecke, PinkDrive KZN Administrator, was grateful to Hollywoodbets for their continued support.
“We have a good relationship with Hollywoodbets and their team and are so grateful for all their unwavering support for PinkDrive. We know that Hollywoodbets are just a phone call away when it comes to assisting the public with cancer screening, and for this we humbly thank you,” she said.
