Tzaneen-based Mavele Drop-In Centre performs an important role caring for the orphaned and vulnerable children within their community. The organisation focuses on the wellbeing of the local children by providing them with extra support for their schoolwork as well as psycho-social support. Even during these extremely challenging times the centre is continuing to offer look after their community by offering their assistance wherever possible.
Mavele Drop-In Centre staff members were thankful to receive a R12 500 donation from Hollywoodbets. These funds will put food on the tables of 21 families within their community. This donation came about after it was announced that the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme and Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation would be collaborating resulting in a R1 million injection of funds into 60 NPOs and NGOs in all nine provinces across South Africa. This amazing initiative was put in place to help relieve the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic is having on communities across the country.
This centre has received support from Hollywoodbets in the past as they operate in close proximity to the Hollywoodbets Tzaneen branch. “We have chosen to assist this centre again as they help those in need during this time. Their beneficiaries include those who will be severely affected by the changes in our country because they live in the deep rural region of Tzaneen. It is wonderful to see how the centre helps the children who don’t have their basic needs met so struggle to practise good hygiene,” said Khanyisa Mhkari, Limpopo Area Manager for Hollywoodbets.
Cynthia Masuele, Manager of the centre, believes these funds have enabled them to continue doing their good work. “We are grateful for this donation because it has given us the necessary resources to support our community members by providing their household with food parcels,” she explained.
