Food parcels for Siyanda Foundation of South Africa Courtesy of Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project
The Siyanda Foundation of South Africa received a R12 500 donation from popular bookmaker Hollywoodbets which provided food parcels to 20 families in Mobeni. Siyanda Foundation is known to provide daily sandwiches to feed members of less fortunate communities. These food parcels will therefore help bring relief to their beneficiaries during this nationwide lockdown as it will provide meals to an entire household.
This foundation came about in 2012 with their goal being to provide counselling, addiction recovery and support as well as training in psychosocial intervention to the Chatsworth and surrounding communities. They often work in conjunction with other NPOs and NGOs to bring about upliftment and empowerment among community members.
Hollywoodbets recently announced that their Hollywoodbets My Community Programme will be joining up with Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation to hand over R1 million to 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine South African provinces. This initiative called the “Brighter Future” project was created as a COVID-19 relief plan to help aid the most vulnerable communities during this time.
Founder of Siyanda Foundation, Zakkiya Suleman, believes that this donation will make a big difference to the lives of Mobeni residents.
“The spread of the global COVID-19 pandemic to South Africa has caused further pressure on vulnerable households facing temporary or permanent employment interruptions. These food parcels will make such a huge impact on their lives. The food parcels will supply meals to families of up to five,” she explained.
This is the second time that the company has shown their appreciation for the good work done by this organisation. “Siyanda Foundation has continued to support the most vulnerable communities within KwaZulu-Natal and therefore we at Hollywoodbets have decided to continue to give our assistance as we know what a difference it will make to the community members of Mobeni. Hollywoodbets prides itself on the amazing community work that we do all year round. We understand that many people are going through a difficult time and we are more than happy to help wherever we can!” said Zandile Nembe, KwaZulu-Natal CSI Champion for Hollywoodbets.
