Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project Provides essential food items to Masuabi Soup Kitchen

This soup kitchen was first started in 2017 with their main aim being contributing to social development in the Kimberley community. They provide daily meals to those who are in need. During this difficult time, it is important that organisations such as this one continue to operate because many people are in need now more than ever. Leading South African bookmaker Hollywoodbets chose to support this soup kitchen by making a R12 500 donation that would allow them to purchase essential food items.
This donation came soon after the bookmaker’s announcement that their Hollywoodbets My Community Programme would be joining forces with Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation to make a R1 million pledge. They called this initiative the “Brighter Future” project, and it acted as a relief response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the project 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine provinces in South Africa were supported.
According to Dorothy Bosma, CEO of the organisation, this support has come at the perfect time.

“Thanks to this donation from Hollywoodbets we will be able to provide daily meals for 27 community members who are in need. Many of our community members have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and have been left without an income. They will therefore rely on our kitchen to help them with food more than ever before,” she said.

Skele Ntlatseng, Free State Area Manager for Hollywoodbets, loved being able to assist an organisation that does so much good. “This soup kitchen is doing a great job by attending to the needs of the most vulnerable community members. This donation will allow them to continue providing daily meals to those who need it the most. The COVID-29 pandemic has affected many people in different ways and we are more than happy to show our support wherever we can,” said Ntlatseng.
