The Hollywood Foundation chose to support Field Fans, a sports club based in Mamelodi East, as part of their efforts to contribute towards sports development in the country. The Purple Team are passionate about developing the skills of athletes from grassroots level and affording them an opportunity to grow and compete on the big stage in the future, through meaningful sports sponsorships.
Field Fans was established in 2021, and the club is comprised of 16 teams and 160 players in total. The club has made the skills and talents of the athletes their priority, and the club was developed at a significant time to afford the less-fortunate an opportunity to showcase their talent. The players practice three times a week at Mamelodi, and the club’s proudest moment was having a tournament that was streamed live on YouTube. Previously, the club held various tournaments to raise funds, in order to support the overall functioning of the team. The iBranch Team from Gauteng saw a perfect opportunity to make a difference to sports development within this club, and on 28 September 2022, the Team contributed R10 000 towards Field Fans, as part of a sports sponsorship.
Lesedi Kunene, the Director at Field Fans, said that the contribution will uplift the players, as the club will now be able to purchase new kits and training attire, which will allow them to train more effectively and bring a sense of belonging within the club.
