Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation reach out to Be Youthful Organisation during COVID-19 Pandemic

Be Youthful Organisation

Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project support Be Youthful Organisation with 40 food parcels

Be Youthful was established in 2014 with the main aim of ensuring that the youth of KwaMbonambi are developed holistically through physical activities and academic support. It is difficult for organisations to continue with their daily activities during this time and many have looked to find alternative routes of support. In saying this, Be Youthful was able to supply 40 families with food parcels thanks to a R12 500 donation that was made from South Africa’s leading bookmaker Hollywoodbets.
This donation came about after the company’s recent launch of their Brighter Future project which is a collaboration between the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme and Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation. The project will see R1 million go towards helping charitable organisations during the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds will support 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine provinces in South Africa.
Some of the activities carried out by Be Youthful is to empower their youth and create awareness around social ills such as drugs, alcohol abuse and crime, as well as encouraging them to take part in sports.

“The families that we are supporting are from various wards in KwaMbonami. The impact of COVID-19 has left the poor worse off. However, the vulnerable families in our jurisdiction make a living off collecting and selling tins or discarded metal. They depend on food parcels as a means of food and therefore this donation will ensure that they have a meal for the next few days,” explained the organisation’s Coordinator, Sebenzile Mthiyane.

This will be the second time that the organisation has received support from Hollywoodbets. “In the past we have supported Be Youthful because of the great work that they are doing in uplifting the community of KwaMbonambi. We understand that many of their community members are going through a difficult time as a result of our national pandemic. This is why we chose to once again show our thanks for the organisation’s work by making this much-needed donation” said Zandi Nembe, Kwa-Zulu Natal CSI Champion for Hollywoodbets.
