The Hollywood Foundation, in collaboration with the Ntenga Foundation and SANTACO Cares, brought smiles to 64 learners from eight primary schools across Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, as part of their annual Back to School campaign. The event was a heart-warming day of giving back, filled with laughter, games, and moments of joy for both the children and the volunteers.
The three organisations, working together, provided the learners with essential school supplies, including school shoes, stationery, and essential care packs. The morning’s programme featured brief speeches from key figures, including Mr. Mpho Dintwa, Hollywood Foundation CSI Manager, who shared his thoughts on the importance of supporting young learners: “Our goal is not only to provide resources but to instil hope and confidence in these students. Every small act of kindness makes a big difference in shaping their future.”
Mr. Siyanda Ntenga, Chairman of the Ntenga Foundation, echoed these sentiments: “It’s truly an honour to be part of this initiative. We believe that education is the foundation of a brighter tomorrow, and by giving back to these children today, we’re helping build a better future for our communities.”
On behalf of SANTACO, Mr. Yusuf Khaliva, Chairman of Durban Central, expressed his pride in being part of the event: “We are proud to support our future leaders and contribute to ensuring these learners start their school year with everything they need to succeed.”
The children engaged in face painting, had fun on the jumping castle and danced the day away with our Purple Family mascot, Nkanyezi. The event reinforced the importance of community collaboration in ensuring that all learners have the resources and encouragement they need to thrive academically and socially. The Hollywood Foundation’s Back to School campaign continues to make a meaningful impact, inspiring hope and empowerment for South Africa’s youth.
