The Hollywood Foundation takes pride in supporting local businesses in order to uplift the community and fight against unemployment and social ills. The CSI programme at the Hollywood Foundation empowered a small-to-medium-sized business which has the potential to make a significant impact in the community, through a contribution which will place them on a path towards growth and sustainability.
Linomsa Designing and Development was established in 2018, with the aim to aid in opposing the high unemployment rate that plagues the country, while keeping the minds of young people stimulated and keeping them away from the streets.
The organisation trains young males and females from underprivileged backgrounds and communities in the craft of sewing and designing. The Purple Team from Nelspruit identified the organisation as a perfect candidate for the CSI programme and was eager to take the opportunity to help grow a female-owned business and empower women in business.
On 11 August 2023, the Hollywood Foundation Team journeyed to Mbombela, Nelspruit, to visit the organisation and hand over a much-needed contribution of a sewing machine and materials for the business, which forms part of the CSI programme at the Hollywood Foundation.
The Team was received with smiles and excitement by the students and staff members. The organisation aims to one day have a bigger training centre so that they can train more people and improve more lives. Nolizwi Manzini, Designer at Linomsa Designing and Development said,
“We are happy, The contribution will assist us a great deal because we now have more equipment and materials that will make the training process much easier than it was before. We are very grateful to the Hollywood Foundation for reaching out to us and following through”.
