The Hollywood Foundation’s Back to School campaign is well underway, and it is continuing to make a positive impact on many learners across the country. On 20 January 2023, the Purple Team and some players from the Hollywoodbets Dolphins, paid a special visit to Sundumbili Primary School in Mandeni, KwaZulu-Natal. The school was selected by the Hollywoodbets Dolphins, due to the many challenges that teachers and learners have to face at the start of the new schooling year.
The day kicked-off with smiles, as the Team and the players received a warm welcome from the learners. Vuyisile Ngobese, the Public Relations Officer for the Hollywood Foundation, gave a moving speech to motivate the learners, and reinforce the Foundation’s commitment to caring for the needs of the community. During the handover, the learners displayed their old shoes and uniforms, which were broken, battered and torn.
Shoes and uniforms are considered to be staple school requirements for parents to purchase at the start of the schooling year, but the reality is that not many households can afford to buy them for their children after the festive season.
Through the Back to School campaign, the Purple Team and the Hollywoodbets Dolphins were proud to hand over new shoes and uniforms to the learners to wear this year. The aim of the contribution is to boost the overall confidence and self-esteem of the learners, which in turn can help them to achieve great results in their studies.
To show their appreciation for the contribution, the learners were excited to engage in song and dance items with the Team after the meaningful handover.
