Mpumalanga United is based in Thusi Village and it was formed in 2008. Currently, the club is comprised of seven teams and 436 players. Players at the club are hardworking and enjoy practice sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The club was formed at a significant time, to curb the high rate of crime in the area and to promote players to the highest possible level. One of the club’s proudest moment was promoting 25 players to SuperSport Academy in Pretoria.
The club was thrilled to welcome a friendly visit from the Hollywood Foundation on 2 February 2022. The Team from Ermelo was proud to hand over brand new soccer kits for players to use when competing against other teams. This forms part of the Hollywood Foundation’s goal to uplift and empower various developing sport teams across the country. The CEO of Mpumalanga United, Fanyana Hlope, said, “This contribution will help the team a lot, and we would like to thank the Hollywood Foundation for it. This will help the development of the team, and it will also impact our community.”
