The Hollywood Foundation Team from Gauteng enjoyed some sunny skies as the organisation officially launched in Soweto on Wednesday, 6 October 2021. The Hollywood Foundation seeks to be better and do better in various regions across South Africa and it aims to run initiatives that will touch the hearts and lives of the communities at large.
To kick-off the launch, the Team met at Boikhutso Street, Soweto, together with the founders of Rhulani Mabasa Children’s Foundation, the media and the Department of Education. The Hollywood Foundation gladly chose to renovate a container and transform it into an after-care centre for the children. The organisation offers resources, opportunities and information to underprivileged children through education, poverty reduction, sports and environmental awareness.
As part of the launch, the Hollywood Foundation Team also made various pledges to organisations who are making a difference in their communities. Protea Glen College was severely affected by the looting that took place in July and were delighted to receive office chairs and laptops from the Foundation to help rebuild the College. R150 000 was donated to the Johannesburg Culinary School to help future chefs, industry leaders and entrepreneurs reach their career dreams. A R150 000 cheque was handed over to Corinthians NPO which will help empower the youth through the establishment of sustainable and impactful sporting and leadership programmes. Boikanyo DHF received R35 000 to help them in their efforts of uplifting children amongst the Sowetan community. A massive R189 000 was handed over to The Pad Run to assist the organisation in their efforts to making sanitary pads more accessible to young women.
