As part of its ongoing commitment to Sports Development and CSI initiatives that uplift communities, the Hollywood Foundation recently handed over a full netball kit and essential equipment to the Imbalenhle CHC Netball Team. The Foundation recognises the role sport plays in promoting physical health, mental well-being, and social cohesion, and continues to invest in projects that bring positive change to local communities.
The handover took place on 16 July 2025, with the Team being nominated by the Hollywoodbets Raisethorpe branch. The Imbalenhle CHC Netball Club was established in 2014 and is made up of two Teams – one for players under 40 and another for those over 40, totalling 16 beneficiaries. The Club was founded to promote mental health and wellness amongst women in the community, while also teaching valuable sporting skills. In 2017, they proudly claimed the number one spot in the opening district tournament, a highlight in their journey of growth through Sports Development.
Before receiving assistance from the Hollywood Foundation’s “My Sport” Sports Development programme, the Club faced challenges in securing matching kits and proper equipment. Often, members would contribute from their own pockets to meet the needs of their teammates, such as buying takkies for someone who couldn’t afford them. This spirit of unity kept the Team going, but resources remained a challenge, limiting their ability to compete at higher levels.
Speaking at the handover, Club Manager Zibusiso Msimange said: “The contribution will help boost our morale and confidence in all the matches we participate in. This might even help us get recognition for national league games.” The Hollywood Foundation is proud to be part of their journey and remains committed to empowering grassroots sports Teams through Sports Development, ensuring that no talent in the community goes unnoticed.
