Situated in St Lucia, Wetlands Park has been a safety hub for many businesses and organisations. Following last month’s violent unrest and looting, many of these establishments were severely affected and have been left helpless during these challenging times.
As part of the My Community Programme, Hollywoodbets came to the fore to assist this area with an array of items that will be used by the various businesses and individuals who are tenants at the business park. The items were valued at R100 000 and were kindly handed over to these establishments on 31 August 2021. Zululand Fried Chicken, a take-away outlet, received a gas fryer, a gas griller and a pie warmer. Shaps Tyres, a tyre shop, as well as a car wash, carpenters, and panel beaters in the area, received other essential equipment, such as welding equipment, drills, wrenches, screwdrivers, tape measures and a tyre changer.
Terry Gaskin, the landlord and one of the owners of a business in the area, stated that his business came to a complete stop due to the unrest and the experience was “totally demoralising”.
“Thank you for being so kind, so helpful, so caring. It is so awesome to see that there are still people who do care. Everyone drives past, so many people make promises, and nothing comes from it. You guys have really come through on your promises.”
