The Hillcrest AIDS Centre Trust has the sole purpose to save and transform lives. The Trust was one of the first non-governmental organisations in South Africa to tackle the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The Trust primarily aims to support people who have this disease and live in semi-rural and disadvantaged communities of the Valley of 1000 Hills region in KwaZulu-Natal. Some of the services that the Trust offers include HIV prevention and education and HIV healthcare.
In collaboration with Hollywoodbets brand ambassador Anthony Delpech and through the #HopeisPower initiative, Hollywoodbets made a substantial contribution to the Trust. The Team visited the Trust on Wednesday, 18 August, in Hillcrest to donate 100 food hampers and 36 seedlings for community-based gardens. The donation forms part of the Purple Family’s goal to help organisations that were affected by last month’s unrest.
“The unrest came very close to our centre here in Hillcrest but really impacted both our staff and beneficiaries who are in the Valley. Their food supply chains were very disrupted and many families have been plunged further into poverty and food insecurity.”
Candice Davidson - CEO
She also thanked Hollywoodbets for their “huge and generous donation” and added that it will assist families in need, more specifically, grandmother-headed households.
