In a remarkable demonstration of commitment to Grassroots Sports Development, the Hollywood Foundation’s CSI initiative has made a significant impact on local football by supporting Hugo FC from Pietermaritzburg. Established in 2014 by the Hugo Sports Academy, Hugo FC has long been a cornerstone of community sports in the region. On 13 June 2024, the Hollywood Foundation Team, alongside the Dukwahs branch Team, visited Hugo FC to officially hand over a generous contribution of new kits, a gesture met with overwhelming excitement and gratitude.
The handover event, which took place at Hugo FC’s home ground, marked a momentous occasion for the Club and its supporters. The Hollywood Foundation’s CSI programme aims to uplift and support Grassroots Clubs, recognising the vital role they play in nurturing young talent and fostering community spirit. The new kits, provided through the CSI initiative, represent more than just a uniform; they symbolise the Foundation’s dedication to enhancing the sporting experience for youth across the country.
Leon Marimuthu, Head of League at Hugo FC, expressed heartfelt thanks during the event, saying, “We are incredibly grateful to the Hollywood Foundation for this generous contribution. The new kits will boost our players’ morale and also help us present a more professional image on the field. The support from the CSI programme is invaluable, and we look forward to making the most of these new resources to continue developing our players and strengthening our community ties.”
The Hollywood Foundation’s CSI initiative continues to shine a light on the importance of supporting local sports clubs, demonstrating that investment in Grassroots Teams can lead to profound benefits both on and off the field. By partnering with clubs like Hugo FC, the Foundation is reinforcing its commitment to fostering talent and building stronger communities through sport. As Hugo FC embarks on this new chapter, the impact of the Hollywood Foundation’s CSI support will undoubtedly resonate throughout the Team and its supporters for years to come.
