Enterprise and Supplier Development – House of Saint Luke

House of Saint Luke

House of Saint Luke, a fashion business based in Durban, was overjoyed to hear the news that it will be receiving assistance from the Hollywood Foundation this year. In an effort to shine a spotlight on aspiring designers, the Foundation chose to contribute R250 000 towards the Durban Fashion Fair’s Rising Stars.

Owned by Mxolisi Luke Mkhize, the business has been struggling in terms of equipment. The COVID-19 pandemic also had a tremendous impact on the overall functioning of the business, as Mxolisi was forced to downsize his operations. The business primarily makes garments by order for special occasions, such as weddings and matric dances. On 21 July 2022, the Team from the Hollywood Foundation paid a visit to the business, to hand over their share of equipment, which included sewing machines and overlockers. Mxolisi was happy and grateful to receive the much-needed support, and said that this will drastically help to improve the productivity and quality of the business.

“I am grateful and very fortunate to have been given the platform and support from the Hollywood Foundation. May you never stop assisting young creatives.”
