In the heart of Durban, a powerful force for change has been shaping young lives through football. The Durban Youth Development Organisation, established between 2015 and 2016, is a community-led Club that was founded to assist young people in developing their talents while offering a positive alternative to the social challenges they face, such as crime, unemployment, and substance abuse. With four active Teams and over 65 beneficiaries, the organisation has become a safe haven and a source of hope for many young people.
On 27 June 2025, the Hollywood Foundation’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Team, in collaboration with the Hollywoodbets Stonebridge Branch, proudly handed over much-needed soccer kits and equipment to the Club. The support was made possible through the Foundation’s My Sports pillar, a core part of its commitment to meaningful Sports Development at grassroots and community level.
Prior to this CSI contribution, the organisation struggled with limited resources, often relying on donations or personal sacrifices to keep the Teams going. Despite these challenges, the Club has made remarkable progress, with one of its proudest achievements being a league title win. This victory is a testament to the resilience of the players and coaches, who are dedicated to transforming their lives through discipline, teamwork, and hard work.
With the new equipment, players will now be able to train more effectively and represent their Club with pride during matches. Looking presentable and well-equipped boosts confidence, builds morale, and strengthens Team identity, all of which are essential to long-term Sports Development.
