The Hollywood Foundation understands the importance of education and training, as it equips students and gives them access to many opportunities. The Future is Bright bursary programme has been prioritising the wellbeing of students through funding for their studies, and it has an aim to ensure that students achieve their academic goals. Keeping in line with this core pillar, it was an honour for the Purple Team to attend the SAJA awards and afford bursaries to three upcoming jockeys for their academic year.
The SAJA awards took place on Friday, 09 December 2022, at Summerveld Clubhouse. The purpose of the awards was to acknowledge the top achievers for the year, and it included the presence of well-known personalities, including veteran Commentator, Deez Dyanand, and former jockey and Hollywoodbets Brand Ambassador, Anthony Delpech. The day was filled with motivational speeches to uplift the apprentices, and the mood was festive and bright as top achievers were recognised. Some notable winners of the day included Rachel Venniker and Siphesihle Hlengwa. Brevan Plaatjies, Ashton Fischer and James Lihaba, three first-year students, were excited to receive bursaries from the Hollywood Foundation, which were presented by Anthony Delpech. These promising future jockeys have already proven to be hardworking, with Ashton and Brevan both winning awards on the day. Brevan shared some kind words with the Team after receiving the bursary, adding that it has changed his life and helped him to overcome many struggles that he had to endure. Seeing that we are in the festive season, the Hollywood Foundation Team also handed over gift hampers to all the apprentices who attended the ceremony.
