After witnessing the struggle chronic patients have when collecting their medication, the Petra Home Base Care established a drop-in centre to care for the needs of these patients. This organisation, established in 2004 in Mpumalanga, also runs a feeding scheme. To give them the support they need, the Hollywood Foundation contributed various items to the centre including chairs and a board table, stationery, printer and toys for the children as part of its CSI initiative.
At Petra Home Base Care, based in Middleburg, workers provide daily meals and also help chronic patients including those who are infected with HIV and AIDS. This October, the Purple Team visited the organisation to hand over the contribution which is part of the CSI project after this centre was identified by the Middleburg iBranch for support.
Bheki, the Chairperson at the organisation, said that they are grateful for the donation.
