In November, the Hollywood Foundation was humbled to assist Khomelela Community Centre in Mpumalanga. Through CSI initiatives, the Purple Team has been spreading hope throughout the country, through contributions that have proven to uplift and empower many communities this year.
Khomelela Community Centre opened its doors in 2009, and it primarily cares for frail and elderly people from within the region. The non-profit organisation was formed to address poverty and starvation that these individuals had to endure. As part of its efforts, the organisation offers a feeding scheme, five days a week. Workers explained that they had to use gas to boil water for the elderly, whenever they ran out of firewood. On 2 November 2022, the iBranch Team in Mpumalanga visited the organisation, to hand over items such as a gas stove and table knives, to assist with their feeding scheme. This formed part of a CSI project, and it enabled the Team to make daily living easier for these elderly individuals.
Malefu Ngwenya, the Coordinator at Khomelela Community Centre, was thankful to the Hollywood Foundation for coming to their rescue and said that the contribution will help to ensure that the organisation prepares more meals in the future.
