Food Parcels Provided for St Anthony’s Child and Youth Care Centre Courtesy of Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project
Hollywoodbets generously provided essential food parcels at a value of R12 500 to St Anthony’s Child and Youth Care Centre based in Blaauwbosch, KwaZulu-Natal. Since its establishment in 1963 the centre, which was founded by Catholic missionaries, has been striving to provide quality care that is conducive to the holistic development of abandoned and abused children within the confines of a safe environment. However, the regular financial support that the organisation usually receives has dwindled because of the outbreak of the Coronavirus. The lack of funding from independent companies has made it difficult for non-profits, like St Anthony’s, to survive during this time. The centre reached out to ask for assistance so that they would be able to continue feeding the children three nourishing meals a day. Hollywoodbets made a donation to offer the much-needed support to this plight.
75 vulnerable children benefited from Hollywoodbets’ third act donation to St Anthony’s. The Hollywoodbets My Community Programme, in collaboration with Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation, made this donation possible after their recent announcement that they would be joining forces to launch the “Brighter Future” project. This new project will see a donation of R1 million going to 60 NPOs and NGOs across South Africa’s nine provinces as part of the company’s COVID-19 relief plan.
CSI Champion for Hollywoodbets KwaZulu-Natal, Zandile Nembe, was excited to be a part of this incredible initiative. “We at Hollywoodbets are so excited and honoured to come on board as donor for the St Anthony’s Child and Youth Care Centre during this challenging time. St Anthony’s can be commended for their selfless work and the difference that they have made in the lives of so many children. We hope that our support will help them to weather this storm, so that they can continue their mission in supporting the youth of today to improve themselves as they are the future generations of tomorrow.”
Director of the centre, Mbongiseni Nzuza, expressed the organisation’s heartfelt thanks to Hollywoodbets for their continued support.
“These are difficult times for non-profits in South Africa. We have seen how much Hollywoodbets cares about our children, when they reached out to us during the lockdown. We know that you are there with us always, and we are not alone in taking care of our children. Hollywoodbets has ensured that our children are able to receive the best care possible even during the lockdown. We are blessed to have the support of a company like this who cares about those in need. That is the kind of attitude we need as a nation to succeed. Thank you, Hollywoodbets. We are so appreciative that you have helped us to maintain our promise to our children to give them the best that we can.”
