Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project Provides 31 essential food parcels to Masibambisane Care Centre
There are many organisations around South Africa that provide full time care to children who are disabled or orphaned. Masibambisane Care Centre is one of these organisations who aim to ensure that the vulnerable children of the Umlazi community are seen to. It is important that during this difficult time these organisations can continue to operate and that is why Hollywoodbets made a R12 500 donation to the centre allowing them to donate food parcels to 31 of their beneficiaries’ families.
This donation came about courtesy of the company’s recent announcement that their Hollywoodbets My Community Programme will be joining forces with Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation to hand over R1 million to 60 NPOs and NGOs across South Africa. The “Brighter Future” project was developed as a relief plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the centre’s Home Manager, Ntombifuthi Ngcobo, this help from Hollywoodbets came at the perfect time.
“These food parcels will go a long way in sustaining the most vulnerable people within our community. We would like to send a big thank you to Hollywoodbets for sponsoring these parcels. The impact of the national COVID-19 lockdown has resulted in most of our usual funding coming to a standstill,” she said.
According to Hollywoodbets CSI Champion for KwaZulu-Natal, Zandile Nembe, this will be the second time that company has chosen to donate to this centre. “Many of our KZN team members reside in Umlazi and this is why this donation makes so much sense! The centre is doing a fantastic job with the care they provide to those who are most vulnerable in their community. The centre hasn’t received any donations in a while because of the national lockdown and therefore we wanted to ensure that they could continue providing their care where it was most need,” explained Nembe.
