Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project support Sakhisizwe Development Care Centre with meals for 25 beneficiaries

Since 2012 Sakhisizwe Development Care Centre has played a vital role in Inanda. The centre was developed to provide care and assistance to the vulnerable elderly citizens within the community. Their beneficiaries are permanently based at the home while they also have four regular day visitors. The Coronavirus has proven to be very dangerous for the elderly and that is why it is important that they are continuously cared for at this time. Leading bookmaker in South Africa, Hollywoodbets, chose to show their appreciation of the centre’s amazing work by making a R12 500 donation which provided food to the centre, ensuring that they can continue to provide daily meals to the home’s inhabitants.
The donation forms part of the “Brighter Future” project that was recently launched by the company. The goal of the project is to inject R1 million into COVID-19 relief and it is a collaborative effort between the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme and Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation. This initiative will help 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine provinces of South Africa.
Sakhisizwe Home Manager, Ntombi Ntuli, explained that the donation has brought a great amount of relief to the staff at the centre.

“The main goal we wanted to achieve this donation was to make sure that there was the correct nutritional value in the food items we use to cook. Most of our beneficiaries are very old and frail and that is why it is important that they receive three nutritionally balanced meals each day. This donation from Hollywoodbets came at a great time for us as we were in dire need of food since the start of lockdown,” she explained.

This is the third time that the company has shown their support for the great work that is done by the staff at the centre. “This national pandemic has had a massive effect on NPOs and NGOs that provide permanent care for their communities, Sakhisizwe being one of them. It is important for us at Hollywoodbets to carry on showing our support to the vulnerable organisations at this time and that made it such an easy decision to, once again, show our appreciation to Sakhisizwe for the outstanding care they provide to the elderly,” said Zandi Nembe, KZN Marketing Team Leader for Hollywoodbets.
