Meals for Children of the Dawn Tzaneen thanks to Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project
Renowned national bookmaker, Hollywoodbets, stepped in to donate essential food supplies at a total value of R12 500 to the 30 vulnerable young people based at the Tzaneen branch of Children of the Dawn. In the same way as many other non-profits in South Africa, Children of the Dawn has also battled to support their beneficiaries they look after during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since their inception in 2002, the organisation has devoted itself to taking care of vulnerable children, including those living with HIV/AIDS.
Many of these children have been in desperate need of food because of the essential nutrition it provides as that enables them to keep taking their antiretroviral medication. In addition to ensuring that the children receive their medications from the clinic and that they adhere to their prescriptions, Children of the Dawn also assist those in their care with their homework and provides extra lessons for those who struggle in school.
The donation of the food hampers was achieved because of the recent collaboration between the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme and Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation. Together they created the “Brighter Future” project, announcing that R1 million would be handed over to 60 NPOs and NGOs around the country as part of the company’s COVID-19 relief plan.

Your generosity has enabled us to feed children suffering with HIV that need food in their stomachs to be able to take their essential HIV medications. We truly hope that you know that your compassion is deeply appreciated,” said the organisation’s Project Co-ordinator, Matome Modjadi.
Hollywoodbets CSI Champion for Limpopo, Yvonne Hlaisi, was ecstatic to be a part of this awesome relief work. “On behalf of our Hollywoodbets team, we would like to say that we are thrilled to be making a difference here in Limpopo. We are especially excited to be supporting an organisation like Children of the Dawn, which does so much for vulnerable kids in our community.
