December is usually a festive time for households around the world. It represents the end of the year, a time where families come together to feast, share and enjoy the season of giving. For some families, this season is the hardest and the loneliest, due to various hardships and struggles. For this reason, various departments at Hollywoodbets came together during the month to fill buckets of love, in order to ensure that elderly residents at Sizimisele Development Trust have a merry and festive season this year.
Sizimisele Development Trust is based in Inanda, and the non-profit organisation shares the same vision as the Hollywood Foundation, which is to uplift the community. The elderly considers the trust to be a safe haven, as many of its dedicated staff tend to their basic needs, daily. Hollywoodbets embarked on the Bucket Drive, where departments filled buckets with basic food items, such as maize meal, sugar, salt, and canned food. On 20 December 2022, the Team of Purple Hearts visited the trust, to hand over a total of 107 buckets. In the spirit of giving back, the Team spent some precious time with the elderly, and gave them some words of encouragement and hope for the festive season. The food items will hopefully ensure that the elderly enjoy warm-cooked meals during Christmas and will give the trust a sense of relief that they have a sufficient supply of basic food items to last until the new year.
