Food for Litshani Vhana Vha-De Foundation thanks to Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project
Litshani Vhana Vha-De Foundation has been caring for the vulnerable children and orphans living in the Thulamela Municipality, Limpopo since 2009. At present there is a great need for basic provisions like food in this area because of the high rate of unemployment, and the situation has deteriorated even further as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Well-known South African bookmaker Hollywoodbets donated R17 500 to support the important work being done by this organisation. This contribution is helping to put food on the tables of the 164 people who depend on Litshani Vhana Vha-De to survive.
The generous donation occurred after the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme joined forces with Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation. As part of their joint venture, appropriately named the “Brighter Future” project, R1 million will be given to 60 NPOs and NGOs that have been severely affected by the pandemic across all nine South African provinces.
Litshani Vhana Vha-De strives to help create a better life for those who are living in the rural areas. This is done by providing their beneficiaries with the support they need to improve their general situation through social and welfare services. They also assist young people with their homework at the centre.
Bridgette Mamugubudi, Centre Manager of the organisation, is grateful for Hollywoodbets’ generosity at a time when they need it most.
“Thanks to your contribution we will be able to achieve or mission of helping to provide a better life to those who are most vulnerable and needy in this rural area by putting food on their tables,” she said.
This is not the first time that Hollywoodbets has chosen to support this organisation.
“We are proud to say that this is our fourth donation to the Litshani Vhana Vha-De Foundation. Over the years we have seen how much they do for their community. They truly help those who are less fortunate. Since the start of lockdown we know that quite a few of the children they normally support have been going hungry, and they have been turning to the foundation for help. We therefore knew it was important to support them so that these children will now have food available at home” said Yvonne Hlaisi, Hollywoodbets CSI Champion for Limpopo.
