TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Hollywood Foundation is awarding bursaries to the qualifying applicants who meet the application requirements as stipulated in clause 2. Bursaries will cover study levels ranging from 1st year (entry into university) to 4th year l (Higher Certificate, Diploma or Degree), including Honours, Postgraduate and Advanced Diplomas. The eligible disciplines are as follows:
- Information Technology & Computer Science (including Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Information Technology and Information Systems, Software Engineering, System and Network Administration)
- Data Science
- Finance & Accounting and BCom (Law)
- Marketing (including Digital Marketing and Communications)
- Media & Communications
- Graphic Design
- Supply Chain and Logistics Management
- Project Management
- Business Management
- Human Resources Management
- Architectural Design
1. BURSARY REQUIREMENTS AND ELIGIBILITY:
1.1. Must be a South African Citizen
1.2. Eligible qualifications: Higher Certificates, Diplomas, Degrees and Post-Graduate studies at any public or private institution registered with the DHET.
1.3. Grade 12 results must reflect a minimum of 65% Average
1.4. Tertiary results must reflect a minimum average of 60%
1.5. Shortlisted applicants must be willing and able to make themselves available for online interviews testing
1.6. Students are strongly discouraged from applying if they know they do not comply with the requirements of this bursary programme. Applying with false intentions may lead to the immediate termination of the contract.
1.7. Please note that all notifications regarding the status of student applications (whether successful or unsuccessful) will be provided by the end of December.
2. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR APPROVED BURSARS AND RETENTION AGREEMENT:
2.1 The Company will grant the bursary amount to the Recipient in terms of this agreement for the 2027 academic year.
2.2 The Company will be under no obligation to award any financial assistance for the academic years following the year in which the initial bursary was awarded.
2.3 The Company reserves right to reconsider the awarding of the bursary on an annual basis. Should the Recipient wish to be considered for subsequent funding, they must reapply at the prescribed time for each academic year.
2.4 The Recipient shall not, without prior written permission from the Company, deviate from the qualification and institution that has been approved for the purposes of this bursary.
2.5 The Company shall assist Recipients with bursaries that cover only pre-approved costs, which are limited to:
2.5.1 Registration fees;
2.5.2 Tuition fees;
2.5.3 Approved Prescribed Study Material/ Textbooks
2.5.4 Student Accommodation (On and Off Campus)
2.5.5 Meal Allowance / Stipend
2.6 The Company is only liable for costs as stated in paragraph 2.5. The Parties agree that all other costs (including those relating to supplementary/differed examinations) are excluded from this agreement and the costs of which shall be for the Recipient. The Recipient agrees that prior written consent from the Company is required for any variation to the covered costs
2.7 The Recipient is required to furnish the Company with satisfactory proof of academic results at the end of each semester.
2.8 The Recipient must maintain a pass rate of 60% in order to be considered for funding in the subsequent academic year.
2.9 The Recipient may not concurrently hold any other bursary, awards, internships, or emoluments concurrently with this bursary, which bind him/her to enter the service of any organisation upon completion of his/her studies.
2.10 Upon successful completion of the approved tertiary qualification, the Recipient agrees to grant to the Company the right of first offer of employment, should an offer be extended by the Company in its sole discretion.
2.11 At the sole discretion of the Company, the Recipient shall enter into a contract of employment with the Company’s, graduate programme.
2.12 Once employed, the Recipient shall be required to remain in the service of the Company for a period equal to the duration of the bursary after successful completion of the approved tertiary qualification.
2.13 The Recipient agrees and accepts that they will be required to successfully undergo all recruitment-related checks as required by the Company.
2.14 Should the Recipient refuse to accept a contract of employment with the Company or to remain in service with the Company as per clause 2.12, then the full amount of the Bursary paid to them in terms of this Agreement must be paid back to the Company.
2.15 Should the Recipient leave the employment of the Company before completing the required service period as described in paragraph 2.12, the pro-rated portion of the full bursary paid to them in terms of this agreement must be paid back to the Company above then the pro-rated portion of the full bursary paid to them in terms of this agreement must be paid back to the Company. However, no repayment shall be applicable in the case of death, ill-health, incapacity, or retrenchment of the Recipient.
2.16 Should the Recipient be dismissed from his/her employment at the Company, in accordance with the applicable labour law legislation before completing the required service period as described in paragraph 2.12, then the pro-rated portion of the full bursary paid to them in terms of this agreement must be paid back to the Company, within the stipulated time frame, that will be communicated to the Recipient at time of dismal.
2.17 The Recipient is required to conduct themselves in a professional and ethical manner for the duration of the course of the bursary, ensuring they do not bring the Company’s name into disrepute.
2.18 Should the Recipient fail to fulfil any of the aforesaid conditions or should it transpire that a bursary was awarded on the basis of false information supplied to the Company, the Company is entitled to terminate the agreement, in this event the Recipient will be liable to refund the Company for the full amount of the bursary, or part thereof, which will become due and payable or whatsoever amount that has been paid on his/her behalf at the time of cancellation.
2.19 Recipients may withdraw their consent at any time by notifying the Bursaries Team in writing at [email protected] . Any images posted during the period of the consent will remain, the withdrawal will only apply after the date of submission of such withdrawal, so no future images will be posted.
3. BURSARY APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
The Recipient shall submit the following as part of the application process:
3.1. Certified copy of ID
3.2. Proof of Address
3.3. Matric certificate/statement of results
3.4. Detailed information regarding the chosen qualification
3.5. A motivation letter for consideration
3.6. An official acceptance letter from the institution or proof of application
3.7. The full registration, tuition and examination fees in respect of each course/modules covering the full academic year, received from the institution along with length of qualification (proforma invoice)
3.8. The name and address of the registered institution
3.9. Verified proof of banking details of the registered institution
4. Policy on the Protection of Personal Information (POPI):
By applying for this bursary applicants give consent that Hollywood Foundation may use the information provided for the purposes stated here. Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (“POPI Act”) defines consent to be “any voluntary, specific, and informed expression of will in terms of which permission is given for the processing of personal information.”
If you are a minor, i.e. below the age of eighteen, your parent or guardian must give consent by signing this document, for Hollywood Foundation and its sponsors as well as our online applications platform, to process your application for a bursary.
The POPI Act requires that a person must have a choice whether to consent or not (it must be voluntary). Should you choose not to give your consent by not signing the Hollywood Foundation policy regarding the use of personal information, this will affect your application as we will not be able to process it. The POPI Act also requires that the personal information collected, stored, and shared must relate to a specific purpose as outlined below.
In evaluating applications, the Hollywood Foundation uses the information to process applications according to the criteria set out by Hollywood Foundation. Since the sponsors have a vested interest in the provision of funds for bursaries, we will share your information with them for purposes of shortlisting. We will not use, sell, or provide your personal information to or for any other purpose or to unauthorised third parties.
5. Personal information to be collected:
For bursary purposes, we will collect your:
5.1. ID number (and birth date)
5.2. Contact details (mobile number, email address and residential address)
5.3. Student number (where applicable)
5.4. Study programme
5.5. Academic institution details
5.6. Fee statements (where applicable)
5.7. Official test and examination results and/or academic progress reports
5.8. Official academic reports where applicable
Conditional Third-party sharing: Your study institution may be requested to provide the basic information needed to be considered for a Hollywood Foundation Bursary.
Data storage and management: Your application information will be stored in our cloud-based bursary management system. The database is also POPI Act compliant, and all the requisite measures are taken to ensure that your personal information is secure. The information will be kept and updated to allow us to keep contact with you should your bursary application be successful
