The Qhakaza Foundation has a special place in its heart for the youth of today and it seeks to equip the youth with practical skills that will lead to empowerment. In Zulu, the word “Qhakaza” means to bloom or glitter, which ties into the organisation’s mission to raise young leaders.
Qhakaza Foundation and Hollywoodbets both opted to assist an organisation called Choices For Life and travelled to Amanzimtoti to deliver food hampers to the organisation, in an effort to help them during this time of uncertainty after the violent riots and looting. The donation formed part of the #HopeisPower campaign that aims to uplift establishments that felt the brunt of the recent upheaval.
Cindy Khanyile, the Centre Manager for Choices For Life, explained that the recent looting and unrest was a traumatic experience for the organisation, as one storage place and some hardware in the community were burnt down. She added that the generous donation will be able to assist the organisation’s campaign called “Baby and Me”, which seeks to help women with care packs after the recent disruption.
