Wall of Fire Multi-Purpose Centre assists 35 families thanks to Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project

The Wall of Fire Multi-Purpose Centre offers various services to those living in Utjane Village near Polokwane. Their main focus is to support the youth with their schooling, and to provide them with homework assistance. However, the COVID-19 pandemic meant that the centre wasn’t able to go about its usual business, because learners were no longer able to visit them and people within the area were in dire need. The team at Wall of Fire was delighted to accept a R12 500 donation from leading bookmaker Hollywoodbets. These funds were used to purchase 35 food parcels which were distributed among those in the area who have been severely affected by the national lockdown.
The company recently announced a collaboration between their Hollywoodbets My Community Programme and Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation. The duo created a “Brighter Future” project where R1 million was pledge to support 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine South African provinces as a relief response to the national pandemic.
This organisation was referred to Hollywoodbets by another local centre that has also received support from the company in the past.
“We first heard about this organisation years ago from one of our past beneficiaries the Morwakola Drop-In Centre. We were immediately excited to try and assist them because they are situated in an area that is deeply in need of help, and because their values line up perfectly with those of Hollywoodbets. The massive impact that they have on their community is a true inspiration to all of us because of their willingness to continue to help during a time like this,” explained Khanyisa Mkhari, Hollywoodbets Area Manager for Limpopo.
Aries Legodi, Manager of the Centre, was thankful to have received a second donation from the company.

“We are thrilled to be able assist those who need it most during this time thanks to Hollywoodbets’ help. The lockdown has affected many people in the community as some of them have lost an income. Therefore these food parcels will bring a lot of relief to many families who would not normally have come to us for help,” he explained.
