Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project support Botshabelo with food parcels for 25 families

Since 2000 Botshabelo has been assisting their community by educating children through their babies’ home and preschool. Their preschool partnerships and training programme also plays a significant role in equipping those living in the area with quality education. Since the announcement of the national pandemic, Botshabelo has set up a Relief Fund project which aims to support 650 families in need. In saying this, leading bookmaker Hollywoodbets showed their support for the initiative by donating R12 500 which will see a further 25 families receive food parcels, ensuring they have meals for days to come.
This donation came soon after the company announced their “Brighter Future” project. This is a collaboration between their Hollywoodbets My Community Programme and Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation. A R1 million pledge was put forward to help bring relief to 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine provinces in South Africa in the hope to lessen the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Each of the 25 families received a gift card with funds specifically for food, which will help them put warm meals on the table into the future.

“This will be the third time that Hollywoodbets will be showing their support for our organisation. Our Relief Fund relies on donations from the public and companies in order for us help vulnerable families in our community. The funds from Hollywoodbets will offer assistance to families from the Olievenhoutbosch community near Centurion,” explained Makopane Mutloatse, Fundraiser for Botshabelo.

According to Gauteng Area Manager for Hollywoodbets, Lorraine Tshabalala, it was an easy choice to support Botshableo. “The organisation has a similar objective to our Brighter Future project. We are both aiming to lessen the impact that the national lockdown and the COVID-19 pandemic is having on the most vulnerable communities. We have supported this organisation before because of the good work that they have done, and therefore it is the perfect opportunity for us to make another additional donation to their Relief Fund,” she said.
